Welcome to the home of the Florida Institute of Technology Marine Enhancement Center!
Mission: To build programs upon Florida Tech's strengths coordinate with other FMFEI Strategic Partners to develop cost-efficient enhancement study, aquaculture, and education facilities.
Florida Tech will work with Strategic Partners of the FMFEI to propogate fish and help ensure the FMFEI is a leader in marine enhancement education.
Our habitat enhancement goals include:
- Estuarine and coastal habitat restoration
- Specifically seagrass, mangrove, and reef habitats
Our stock enhancement goals include:
- Acclimation/conditioning of juveniles priort to release
- Monitoring post-release survival
- Culture and production of pelagic species
Our outreach and education goals include:
- Creation of hands-on K-12 programs
- In-Step teacher training
- Preparing the next generations of future Aquaculturists, Fishery Biologists, and Marine Biologists
- Outreach to the public at large
